Hey, i have a 1999 gt convertible. My back window broke the other day, my question is:

1. would it be easier to replace just the rear window or to buy a complet new 2pc. kit and install it in one shot?

2. Does anybody have any instructions on how to install the window by its self or the complete kit?

3. Is it even possible to install it myself, or should it be professionally done?

 

i would personally go ahead and have both parts replaced. to get the rear window curtain out, you have to take the other part about halfway off anyways. so the labor wouldnt be much more to have the whole thing done, and the part wouldnt be more than about $150. so if you have the extra money to spare, then i would do them both.
i replaced the whole top on my 94 a couple years back and it was a PITA. I wouldnt do it again unless i was squeezing pennies. i feel that it would have been well worth the $350 labor i was quoted. if you have a ton of patience, a buddy, and at least a weekend to work on it then you could do it yourself. i just had general instructions on replacing a convertible top, not mustang specific. so that could have been part of the problem, but it is still very tedious and time consuming.
