What Type Metal???
#3
I'd say the early metal was the best.
The genre was created by Rob and Priest probably with British Steel. Take that into the middle 80's and most metal had lost it's soul.
Megadeth never fails to make me grin, and Priest is still screaming. Some have morphed over into experimental rock, like Soulfly...
I think real metal died in the 80's.

Unit91,
That is "pot metal". We sometimes hear it called "monkey metal", but mostly it is just cussed at.
Pot metal is used on all the cast arms in the quarter panel at the ends of the back seat, and at the very front(header piece). The bows that join one side to the other over the top of your head are steel.
Very few decent welders will even try to weld pot metal. It is cheap to cast, but made mostly of zinc.
Good luck!

I don't think you can do anything with it like that.
Pot metal oxidizes as it gets old, so trying to heat it up and do anything with it is pretty much a nono. It will even have air bubbles in it on the inside sometimes. It was used by all car makers because of the low temperature needed to heat it to in order to cast the part.
I see the oxidation problem at the front header frequently. There will be "bubbles" like it has rust under the paint. Scrape away the paint and there is a bunch of dust where the metal is oxidized and just a pit where there used to be metal.
The newer Stangs don't have as much of a problem with this phenomenon.
Good luck
