Default Window motor into a timing chain replacement?

I turn to you guys for reassurance/help:
so, let's see here... I took my 05 v6 vert to my usual mechanic, and in the process of replacing a window motor and brakes, they said I needed an oil change. The next day, I get a call saying my timing chains are "bad" and my car is undriveable. Is this something that happens? The car was running fine before I took it in. No ticking, clicking, Etc. I kinda feel like I got completely screwed here. Mostly because I'm stuck with a totalled car. And the bill for the brakes they just put on it ...

First off how was this problem determined? I would take it to a second mechanic to get their opinion. This just doesn't happen like this. Unless you are really flogging the car you usually have some symptoms before stuff breaks.

It sounds like they are raping you.

Timing chain...really? Right off the bat I bet they are full of it. Get your car back, pay them for the work you took it there for, and go to the dealer or someone else that will do a free inspection. That's the problem with going to the "usual" mechanic or whatever - so many of them are down right crooked.

I wonder if after replacing the brakes they gave it to billy18yearold to go test out.

He distroyed it while hammering it during the test drive I bet.
