harmful leather cleaner/protectants
I remember years ago reading that armor all and other leather cleaner and protectants harmed leather. I believe the claim was that after it was applied, it would dry out making further moisturizing necessary.
Is this true/an't find the answer elsewhere. Since everyone uses leather protectant and cleaners, I assumed not, but then again, someone that details their car all the time might not care since they would be constantly or regularly applying those cleaners anyway
Armour all never soaks into anything it is put onto. If you put it on your seats it will just come off onto your clothes. That has been my experience even with their leather cleaner/conditioner spray. Whether it harms it or not I really don't know, but it doesn't stay on or look like better products. Use Meguiars. They make a one step product or a two step cleaner and conditioner process. It changed the texture and look of my leather. Also, I switched to gold class protectant and the look is much better (more of a matte/factory new look). Also remember that your stang is leather front seats but vinyl back. I saw that posted here somewhere and it turns out my stang is exactly that. Apply the Meguiars with a foam or terry applicator pad, then buff with a terry towel. Great stuff. Later.

Thanks
I have some Megs wipes I used on my MR2 before a drunk totalled it last month. I wasn't really sure if it wasn causing the liong term damage I described above, but since it was 14 years old I wasnt as worried about it. I didn't want to start wrong on a new car.

Skip the wipes unless you like wasting money... though they're handy for emergencies, you're paying for convenience.
Among the best products for leather out there is the Mothers Leather Cleaner and the Mothers Leather Conditioner... use the cleaner only if you need it, and it also removes scuffs from vinyl real well. The conditioner has neat's foot oil and all the other good stuff that the high-priced brands have for the economical Mothers price.
If your seats are dirty, don't bother with the one-step products... they'll waste your time and money.

I used the wipes on my doors and dash then read that I wasn't supposed to but don'
t know what I am supposed to use on dash and doors to clean them. or to get the wipes off. It was before I read your last post

To clean the vinyl, try just using a water-dampened microfiber or cotton terry towel and wipe gently. If necessary, spray a few squirts of a gentle vinyl cleaner (or a product like Mothers Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner) on the towel to wipe off the leather care product. Buff lightly with a microfiber.
That should do it.
I just used the Black Magic Leather Cleaner/Conditioner on my leather seats. Made them look great. I was worried for the longest about using something though because I have the red leather interior and didn't know if it would effect it differently. I don't know why I was concerned I guess I just wanted to make sure my baby didn't get hurt lol.
