Default Painting Question

Ok... I was curious.. Not that I am going to try.. But.. I got some really cheap (as in price, not parts) Chrome Tail Lights.. I have a red mustang gt vert and I don't think they look that great on it.. I'm sure they will grow on me.. But they kind of look out of place.. I was wondering.. Just curious.. If I could somehow paint over the chrome to match my car... Should I even attempt this or would I just ruin the headlights? If I can achieve this goal.. how would I go about doing it?

Are they headlights or tail lights?

if they were really cheap, as you say, no doubt, they are plastic, and you will have adhesion, cracking, and peeling problems if they are painted.

Painting them to match shouldn't be a problem. You'll want to scuff up the chrome to promote adhesion of the paint. Apply a coat or two of primer, sanding be tween coats. Then, apply your paint of choice.

Painting things like that are surely a preference. Beit not by many, but if that's what you want shoot 'em. Get an adhesion promotor. Walmart has some as does NAPA. "BULLDOG". You can paint chrome, aluminum, glass, anything. Be careful...it is a very thin clear primer and subject to runs if you spray too heavy. MISTING as the directions say is the way. It may look grainey but paint will adhere. Good luck.

You would have to sand off the chrome and use a primer/sealer
