Spray paint wheels??
I have 16in stock mustang wheels, they dont look very good, some stains, and it looks like some of the clearcoat is comming off.I was wondering if i could spray paint them silver again or would that not even work?

RE: Spray paint wheels??
They will end up looking worse than they do now. Brake dust will eat away at the paint and cause it to chip. The only way to properly refinish wheels is to take them to a shop that refinishes them. They will sandblast them and then refinish them properly. I don't know how much they charge for this type of work so you should check it out.
If they cost too much, perfect excuse to get new rims and possibly new tires.

If you paint them all the chips will show through. Yes, they will be uniorm in color so if you have chalking or light greying they will be the same. Going down the road no one will know. If you cannot afford 2K for new wheels, (not to mention tires too if you change the size...another grand!) and you want a quick fix, paint them. Not everyone can upgrade and if you think they suck now, paint them. It is a "band-aid" but may be better than what you have. Use caliper paint. An obvious choice to eliminate the brake dust issue mentioned above. I'm sure they must have some metallic silver...or black even. Thought about that? Bottom line, unless you strip and refinish, they will look...painted. However, may be better than you have. You decide. I certainly do not have 2 grand for wheels, today, now, because a bunch of guys on some forum said it's lame to paint 'em. [sm=rant.gif]

RE: Spray paint wheels??
I JUST REDID MINE IT TOOK ME ABOUT THREE DAYS BUT I ONLY SPENT A COUPLE OF HOURS each day on them.. it costed me about thirty five to forty five dollars to do the whole thing.. all I did was go to O’Reilys and get some wheel spray paint and some sandpaper.. I sanded them down real good (and taped off the lip on mine) then I spray painted them.. I put on 2 coats of paint, which was about 2 cans. I will eventually go and buy the clear coat spray paint and put it on.. that is all I did to my wheels, granted it is not a professional job, I think they came out looking great, plus I didn’t have to spend all the money to get them professionally done.

RE: Spray paint wheels??
I bought a set of used SN95 wheels from a juck yard and they looked like death. I took em home and spent about 5 hours wet sanding the wheels and sprayed them with the factory silver paint. I also put on a coating of high heat clear. Ive had them for about 4 months now and dont see any flakes or stains yet.
