Default Hiding wires in engine bay

I might be pulling my engine to do a rebuild and was thinking about hiding all the wires to clean up the apperance. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of thing. how difficult and how long would it take?

Default RE: Hiding wires in engine bay

It's not really that difficult, its just time consuming. It will take about 3 hours for the left side and about 5-6 for the right side depending on what you want to leave there. And remember Solder not crimp!!!!!!!!! It will take about 1-2 hours longer but will be worth it in the long run. 91-93 cars will take around 8-10 hours total and 87-89 cars about 7-8 hourse because they don't have a mass air system or crash sensors.

On the main harness in the back of the fire wall all I did was put the harness under the pinch weld on the firewall and zip tied it up. I also removed all of the EGR wires and sensors which are not needed to run but are needed for emissions.

On the left side I ran all my wires through the hole in the back of the shock tower, and removed all the unnessesary sensors except for the mass air sensor wire.

On the right side I mounted the starter selinoid inside the shock tower and just re-ran all the wires going to the positive on the selinoid under the fraim rail. The rest of the wires were ran through the hole in the back of the shock tower. The only wires I had to lengthen in the whole process was the wires on my ignition box.

I also timed how long it took to this job and the result was 8 hours 57 minuets. This was my first time doing it, I took no breaks and soldered all the wires instead of crimping them.
