but i have a question......what is the dif. between waxing and polishing?
should i wax after? should i wax before?
any coments are welcome

well i just polished the stang with the ICE
looks great, very nice shine.....even tho it was a lil harder then i thought to hand-buff off
(every1 made it sound like you could just stare it off!)
but it was still much easier to buff off than liquid glass(pita!)
but my next question is......should i be concerned about waxing it now?

I just did ICE and it doesn't act like a polish. It seems that ice should be a final topping after prepping the paint. It removes nothing that is on the paint.
A polish would have removed these contaminates:

The term "polish" has many definitions based on what company you are buying your wax/polish/sealant. To me a "polish" is used to clean and smooth the paint to bring out gloss. I consider swirl removers polishes. Some products mix in a wax and call it a polish. Others have no paint cleaning or leveling ability at all and are strictly a sealant, but called a "polish". Just ignore the term polish and look for what you actually want to do with your paint? Do you want to clean it, remove oxidation and possibly remove or reduce swirls? Do you want a wax or sealant that has no cleaning abilities? Or do you only want something to "Wax on, wax off" and call it done?
Like was said, polish shines, wax protects. Cleaners clean the paint prior to any other product application, if you haven't tried a clay bar the paint isn't clean. I clay bar'd my new 06 the day after I brought it home and it helped alot. Porter Cable 7424 will help with the tired hands and wax-on/wax-off elbow. Good luck and shine on.
Detailing is only a form of bonding between man and machine.

wut i would mostly be goin for is something that cleans and remove oxidation
swirl removal is also important
as for the claybar.....would you have to wax it immediatly? I have nv done it and have been wanting to for a while

In that case I would prepare for some serious bonding with my car. Keep in mind quality products produce quality results. I prefer the Meguiars 3 step Cleaner, Polish and Carnuba wax. I started right away with a Porter Cable 7424 to apply all the products but removed them with a good microfiber. This can all be done by hand but will be slower, tiring and the results will not be quite as good but still a big improvement. My first big exterior detail went like this:
Wash and dry
Clay Bar
Wash and dry
Cleaner
(Swirl remover where needed ie Scratch X or Color X)
Polish
Careful inspection to make sure I'm happy with the finish if not spot treated until happy, wax protects adds shine and that's about it
Carnuba Wax
No water or rain for at least 6 - 8 hours to let the wax cure
Quick Detailer
2nd Coat of Carnuba Wax
Lawn chair, shades and cooler of Michelobe
Sit back and bask in the beauty of your Stang

With my new Stang I follow the same routine. Clay bar is a must to remove fine particles and it makes the surface as smooth as a baby's behind. Then used ColorX as a surface polish to prepare the surface for the sealant and wax. Then I used Meguiar's NXT wax, waited a day and then put on second coat. After weekly washes I just go over the car with the NXT quick detailer to freshen up the wax.
