cleaning wheels
hello, i havent put on my new wheels yet, bu i want to know the best way to clean them and keep them shining and how often to clean them...they are silver FR500's from mustangtuning.com thanx guys
Congrats on the new "wheels."
Periodically polish and protect with the appropriate product for the finish -- chrome polish for chrome or a wheel-specific coating polish (or something like Mothers Plastic Polish) for the plasticized clearcoat on most factory-type wheels (you can also use a spray wax or synthetic wax or instant detailer).
Wash them often with regular car wash and a wash mitt designated for the "dirty" areas. I like to do my wheels first with a wash bucket full of a double-shot of car wash in the mix.
Use an "all-wheel" or "chrome-specific" spray-on, hose-off cleaner when necessary. Again, I like to do this with the "dirty" wash mitt, and spray the product on the wash mitt and wheels only (not the other metals such as the caliper, rotor, etc -- especially if you're using the stronger "for chrome" spray products).
Hopefully this helps.

I just wash mine with a sponge designated for the wheels using regular car wash shampoo and dry them off once I'm done with the rest of the car. I should probably get something to get the inside of the wheels, although you could just jack it up, take the wheels off, and wash out the brake dust from the inside of the wheel. I did that once and was well worth it, but I don't do that too often because it takes a while.
