Wax Recommendation
I want to wax my car and want something that is good for black cars. I was reading a Consumers Report article on waxes and they were pretty thorough. I was really surprised that some wax/polishes produce different results on different colored vehicles.
My car is black so I want something that is not going to leave any streaks or swirls. Their best buy/recommendation for dark cars was Turtle Wax Carnuba Car Wax T-6 Liquid and Black Magic Wet/Shine Liquid Wax 3M48016. Has anybody with a black car used either one of these?
Is a liquid wax better than a paste wax? I always thought the paste would be better. I don't mind putting elbow grease into the job as long as it gives me long lasting results.
Opinions?

There are several good OTC waxes out there. Meguires NXT is a good wax. I like Duragloss products #101 and #105. Go to autopia.org and check out the forums there. Those guys are the ones who know. My next wax i'm trying is Pinnacle Souveran. There are alot of how-to's on the autopia site that are really good. Black is great when its clean but it sure gets dirty fast.
Black looks just awesome when it's well-maintained. And yes, different wax formulas will tend to look different on different colors... it's a light reflectivity thing, I guess. Much like how you'll see every little defect on a black car.
Several guys over at waxforum.com who have black cars really like the Reflections Car Wax and Top Coat. I've used it on my silver SVT and I really like it -- incredibly easy to use, which I like. One dude over there called the Wizard of Iz has a washing regimen that helps him to keep his black cars looking good, and it makes a lot of sense for any car owner, and it's not that much work -- the right mitts, two wash buckets, good towels, etc. See, if you're not careful, bad washing and drying habits can turn a nice polish job into a mess of spiderwebs. His black cars look awesome, so I figure he's got some good ideas.

I have just started using products from Zaino and have been very impressed. May father started using it on his 65 and friend uses it on his 96 Cobra. They have several different products for different types of paint/finishes. The car polish goes very light (one once did my entire car/wheels) and leaves no residue which is important for darker colors such as black. After applying the car polish I just maintain with their detailing spray and it provides an incredible finish. The tire shine product is also good as it provides a nice clean/shine and it not oily so it doesn't wind up on your car and dust and dirt does not stick.

Why limit yourself to over the counter stuff. Look online to find better waxes and polishes. Pinnacle, Poorboy's, Clearkote, Wolfgang, Zaino, etc all offer much better products thatn what you can get in the store.
Am I right in assuming all the waxes that are recommended are liquid? Do they last longer than the paste? I ask because I absolutely hate waxing a car but do so because it is needed to protect the paint.
MY HUSBAND IS NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH MY CAR so I do as much as possible myself and waxing is not fun.
