Best car polish?
You can polish a new car. I have this stuff called Pro Polish. It is a chemical polish and has no abbrasives. You can use it on a new car. It will clean the paint and bring out some more shine and reflection getting the paint ready for wax. I have polished many new cars. Some I've had to use an abbrasive polish like the SSR line. Usually on a new car the most you would have to go would be an SSR1 which is light swirl/scratch remover.
When I got my car brand new. The first thing I did was claybar it. Then I used the Pro Polish followed by a wax.

S281 E- also remember, most of your shine, depth, and reflection is achieved before the wax stage. Waxing just protects your results and it also adds more shine and reflection. If you have any detailing questions check out www.autopia.com. There is a lot of useful info on that site.
Personally, I like and recommend a product called Rejex, found at corrosionx.com. It gives great gloss and protection from tar, bird droppings, bugs, you name it. Best shine I've found.
I had used over the counter products for years. I decided to follow Juztangs advice. I bought a Porter Cable and his Poorboys line of products. I clayed it, polished it, sealed it 3 times and waxed it twice. The shine is stupid. When I am driving it the difference over stock on the hood from the drivers seat is crazy. Little stuff that used to stick to the car, does not stick now. A microfiber wipes it off really easily. He is sending me a finshing spray to put on as well. I could not be happier with the results. This is not a paid endorsement, lol!
Bye the way the the Poorboys Natural Look spray works great on the interior. Perfect level of shine for me and it smells good too.

I prefer Adam's Polishs for my dark cars. Last long time.
And for clay, how the paint FEELS to the touch tells you when it need to be done. Clay helps keep swirls to a minimum. Paint should feel baby butt smooth.
All about personal preferance, dark cars are WAY more picky then light cars..........
My 2 cents after searching for 20+ years.
