Default Fixing Scratches

Good news. My new mustang already has damage. A roll of carpet side-swiped my car and scratched the front hood, and all edges around the light bezel. Only a couple of scratches look deep. The rest not so bad. Can I buff these out. I am not a car guy and would gladly pay to have the scratches fixed professionally rather than me messing it up worse. I think the scratches might have gone through some of the clear coat.

Of course, the carpet fell backing side first- not with the plush carpeting- onto the vehicle.

Try to polish the areas that are scratched. You could also try Megiuars Scratch-X, it is fairly cheap and works well. Do you have a buffer by a chance?

No. No buffer. My concern is that I will make it worse. How much does it normally cost to have a shop buff out the scratches etc if they aren't too deep? I just took another look and some look like they deffinetly went deep into the clear coat. I have the Tungsten Gray and that metallic flake looks like a bitch to try to match.

The question is how to best repair it so it look like new.

I might try the scratch x.

Thanks.

Do you have any pics of the scratches. It's really hard to tell you what to do without seeing them. If it was scratched by carpet chances are that they will come out. I've fixed a lot of scratches. I have a detailing business that I do part time.

My bad didnt read closely..

You need to put some pics though for us to answer that question...Everybody has their own perception of what bad means as far as scratches.

Just drive it too a near bodyshop and ask about the cost of buffing, or even try to find a dtailing shop, they useally do have buffers and will probaly be cheaper than a bodyshop.. . Scratch X does work good(I know i used it) but If you want a new like finish you better get it buffed.
