Default Paint for Metal

I just removed a few items like the glove compartment, ash tray, and 1/4 panels out of my '67 and was wondering what I should use to paint them. It needs to be black. Could someone possibly go through all of the steps they do for painting metal? Thanks

Just clean it really well (i used mineral spirits follwed by rubbing alcohol), then give it a good coat of primer and then 2-3 mists coats of black paint folled by a medium coat. As far the type/brand of paint Id use a automotive interior specific paint. A local auto paint store should be able to help you.

After you paint it, wet sand the items and then put a nice coat of clear on it to protect the paint and bring out that shine!
