Anyone do body work? Please advise.
I have removed the luggage rack from the deck lid, and I need to fill all the holes. I have a small Hobart mig, and on the lowest heat setting, I closed one up and ground it down smooth. However, I am worried about the ones in the middle of the deck lid, I dont want to warp the metal and ruin the lid. Is some type of bondo a better option, or do I need to continue what I am doing? I know this may be stupid, but a couple of the wholes are a 1/2 inch in diameter, that will be a pain to weld up. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Same problem here, sorta. I hate the luggage rack. Instead of going through the trouble of patching and smoothing I'm looking for one that came without the rack. I don't know about bondo, when you close the turnk that air pressure builds up and would probably blow out the bondo after a while. What about a handhelf torch anf some lead? Old school but it would be permanent and I think it would take lett heat to do it?
I was also told to bend the wholes inward a little to allow the lead/bondo/whatever to be able to grab more.

I found a fiberglass re-enforced bondo that worked great. It was a pain to sand, but it went on good and sanded smooth. I will post up some pics when I finish the paint. Hopefully by Sunday evening, it will be ready to roll.
Pics coming tomorrow night. I just put the first coat of clear on this morning, one more wet sand and one more coat of clear, then I will be FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!
