Default Help with paint finish

Hey guys i got a 91 green mustang lx 2.3. I bought it off a friend but the cars been passed around through a few people in a short amount of time. whoever had the car down the line im assuming was going to paint the car because the hood, front fenders, roof and trunk have been lightly sanded down. im assuming this because the paint is dull compared to the doors and other parts, theirs light sand marks, the paint is completely dull no gloss at all, when you rub your hand on it green comes off. Also my friend sprayed some wiper fluid on my hood and it saoked in and stained it in a matter of minutes. But it hasnt been sanded to the point of where you can see primer or anything. Now i was wondering if there was any half easy way to fix this without having to repaint the whole car and do all the body work. The car definetely could use a paintjob but im 17 and i dont have the time/money and the car isnt really worth it. Would maybe wasxing it or anythign help? or is there any sort of glossy clearcoat i could put on it? Also winter is coming up is there a possibility that it could rust? thnx

Hey, partner. based on what you described, it looks like your paint job has crossed the line of no return. Not sure, if there are products out there that can make it look decent. Lets wait and see what other may say..

Your car may have been painter with single stage paint. That means it has no clearcoat if you can rub off the color. You may be able to buff up the shine but the problem is every time you compound it you will have less paint. Without the protection of clearcoat its had to keep a shine on a single stage job that hasnt been taken care of since new. Or worse its a base and clear job and all the clear is worn off which means you can do nothing except repaint it.
