Congrats on your "new" LX. I'll assume it's a dark color?
If applying by hand, a 3-step system is helpful to reduce spiderwebbing -- a common washing/drying-induced light scratching malady.
Claying once or twice a year is usually recommended, and you might consider that first if you've got light bumps of contaminants that don't wash off.
The first step of the 3-step system is a Pre-Wax Cleaner, then 2nd is a Sealer & Glaze (this helps fill/hide the spiderwebbing), and 3rd is a Pure Carnauba Wax.
Mothers makes what they call their Ultimate Wax System, which is such a 3-step system. It's pretty easy to do, but with 3 steps, it's a bit of a commitment on time. Periodically you can use just the Wax or the Sealer & Glaze and Wax, so subsequent maintenance isn't so bad.
More information is available in their detailguide.com.
Once you get it looking good, be sure to wash it with a quality sheepskin mitt (I'd use two buckets -- wash and a rinse), and dry with microfiber towels using a "pat" or "blot" method.

Jim info was right on. Take it a step further for the scratches and use ScratchX. It's a great product for swirl and scratching. Some good waxes are Meguir's NXT Tech Wax, Mother's Syn Wax, Poorboys, Zaino, Wolfgang, Klasse. Try looking at www.autogeek.com for tips and info on products
I picked up "Meguiars smooth surface clay kit" and planing on going to pick up some "ScratchX" and a "3 step wax system" . the meguiars kit came with this stuff called "Meguiars Cleaner wax" but was thinking i just could use the "3 step wax kit insted"?, any tips ?, what order should i do these things?
I've only used the ScratchX where there were places on the car with scratches. The polish that comes with the kit should work for the fine swirls and it will clean the paint and bring back the shine and reflection.
Yeah it does. If you would want to stay with Megs...I know the NXT doesn't leave residue. There are a lot of companies now that have great waxes. Poorboys,Optimum,KlearKote,Pinnacle,Wolfgang, and so on.
