I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the spring loaded lid from the ash tray right before the shifter in the mustang. I want to paint the cover and have no idea on how to remove it.

don't paint it... i painted t and i didn't like the way it look at all, i went and bought a new one... i just taped the hell out of every thing around it and painter it on the center counsel
