is it harmful to the paint if u use a california duster on a dusty car?
My California dusters have not harmed the paint on my cars and I've used them for years. I have 3 of them for my Mustang. I have a new one I use on the body paint. I also have a used one I use exclusively on the wheels. I also have a small duster made for the interior. Be sure to follow the directions on the package. You should lay the duster on some newspaper to let it air out for several days before you use it on the car.

As others have said its for dusting and light dirt, do not rub, just use a light touch and follow the body contours. I never use a circular motion just long smooth, light strokes.

Every time I come home from a drive I first dust the paint. I then switch to the other California duster and dust the wheels. It is great for keeping the brake dust from building up. My small California duster is the perfect size for the dash and door panels and takes only a few minutes to do the whole interior. I also use this one to do the door jams and inside trunk lid. Sometimes when I've finished, a smudge may be visible on the body, then I'll use Maguires Quick Detailer on it and it shines right up. It takes about 20 minutes for this entire process.

I get a wash maybe once a month but by using the California dusters my car looks just washed every day.

EDIT: I have never cleaned mine. They say the more you use them the better they get.

I drive it every non-rainy day and avoid puddles, lawn sprinklers, dirt roads, and construction zones. Thats the beauty of the california duster, you keep the dust off and the car stays clean and shiny. If it rains and gets very dirty, or gets water spots, then you need to wash it.

I'm not sure if the duster is "washable" but I did wash mine once as it does build up over time. It produces A TON of lint so you will be shaking the **** out of it after a wash[&:] IMO - for $15 or whatever they cost, just buy a new one every year, as they are difinitely worth it.

They ATTRACT dust to their fibers, therefore they aren't really dragging it and potentially scratching your paint.

S$it..glad to see I am not the only one with this type driving habits with a black stang...I even go on the opposite lane if I see someone with a weed wacker on the side of the road...[sm=icon_beat.gif]

I finally got one too and glad I did; it works great. I just bought a $10K asphalt driveway because my crushed limestone one made too much dust. I only drive on sunny days and keep the car sealed up in the garage when not in use. Sometimes only drive it 3 times a month.
