Help ! What do do about bad paint job
Recently I had the bumper and hood painted on my black 98GT.
This was an established body shop in the area. The owner said he would use a two part finsih ending with a clear coat that would be as good as or better than the factory paint. Cost was $365
The paint came out very nice but the body shop owner mentioned that he had a really hard time with the bumper because it seemed that someoene had sprayed it with touch up spray paint or something like that.
About a month after the job was done the bumper paint started showing small cracks. It looks like the cracks one sees on a dry mud at the bottom of a dry lake but much much smaller.
I went back to the shop and the owner told me that "I" should have had the bumper replaced in order to have the paint look ok. He said my bumper was bad.
Now the hood is showing small dimples as if the paint was lifting from under the pigment.
What do you guys feel this guy did wrong to cause the paint to show the above? Did he skip on a barrier or sealer coat or did not prep the car properly ?
What would it take to repair or re do the job properly?
I'm bringiging the car back to him on monday
thanks

I had been prety much leaving the paint alone letting it cure etc. Yesterday I washed the car real good and used some Dupont No 7 liquid on it. I like the stuff since it is easy on the clear coat but takes off oxidation.
After hand buffing I took a good look at the hood with the light at an angle so I can see the inperfection.
Aside from the bumper :It looks as if a bunch of crap fell on the paint while it was drying. There are quite a few bumps and pits. There are actually more of those than before the hood was painted.
then there are the small areas where it looks like a bunch of little diples all clumped up together.
I already called the *** hole and told him I'm bringing the car back to him to talk about what he is going to do. [:@]
