Default clear plastic

something is on one of my headlights. I think it may be some old wax that was dried on. Ive tried to rub off with water and alchohol. I have also tried scrapping it with my finger nail. I have gotten some off but am pretty much stuck now. not bad enough to buff out or sand but maybe there is a milder cure.

Hard to tell but it looks kinda like the clear finish over the light is coming off. If thats the case only fix is to replace it. If not try some Meguier's Plastix

Where you are able to lift some of the "something" -- does it look concave underneath? Or flush?

If it's on the surface, try a plastic polish like others suggested. I like Mothers as it seems to work better for me than PlastX on tough jobs. Or use a metal polish for an initial cut, followed by a plastic polish.

If the area is fairly large and it looks like your arms are going to wear out, I'd try a PowerBall Mini with plastic polish.

Polishing plastic is pretty easy... you're pretty unlikely to make it any worse.

If you want more specific advise, a photo of the damage would be helpful.

there is a photo of the damage in the first post enlarge it and you can see it. it covers most of the light. not hardly noticable without the lights on but just enough to aggravate me since they are only 10 months old.

Oh, that's what that is!

So sorry about that... I got confused... it makes sense now.

So these are tinted aftermarket lights? It looks like the tint's coming off.

I'd check with the manufacturer... assuming there's any tech support, but it looks like an outer tint coating is coming off and probably the best thing to do is replace it or polish it off the entire lense, if that's possible or practical... it depends on how they were made.

Again, sorry I got confused.

That' exactly what mine looked like. Moisture is getting in the headlight and it's constantly getting wet and drying out. The tint is flaking off. I changed mine over to clear lenses.

the plastic isnt tinted, it is clear. the inside of the housing is gloss black which makes it smoked. inside of the flaking area there are swirl marks so i think it may be old wax or maybe a clear coat. its not oxidation, i know what they looks like. the other isnt like that and its the only one that ever fogs up. I think ill prob try and polish it out. replacing is out of the question cause they arent even a year old. and u cant see it unless they are on. thanks for the help and if u have any other ideas let me know.
