Default shift boot

i have a 5-speed 94 mustang. i got a new shift boot for christmas and cant figure out exactly how to install it. it is the leather and then then metal bezel around the bottom. Well, on the old one, the bezel is held in there by plastic tabs and half of those are broken. i am trying to figure out how im supposed to mount the new bezel to the black plastic that the shift boot is connected to. anyone know haw this is supposed to work??

the boot attaches back with teh same bolts that held the old one in place, the bezel, dont really know how it works, maybe some epoxy?

thats the problem. the shift boot is connected to the bezel from the factory, and it has little holes in it. well, on the bottom of the plastic console piece, there are little plastic posts that go into these holes. then after they are stuck through the holes, it looks like they are melted until the end is too big to pull back through the holes. the only way to get the old boot/bezel off is to break these little plastic pieces and if i do that then there will be nothing to hold the new boot/bezel on there.
