Default antenna

anyone know how good the reception is on a 14 inch or 8 inch antenna...the beast that's on mine is driving me insane (its a fox with the giant mast antenna)...i was thinking the 14 inch would still be short enough but have good enough radio reception...anyone have any experience??

I have an 8in that I bought from American Muscle that works well but not as great in some areas with higher mountains. I noticed the difference right away from my stock antennae but it just depends on where you live. A 14in would be my suggestion and it still looks clean.

If i were you I'd go to a junk yard and get one that fits/looks nice and cut that one down to about even with your roof. Then you will have the factory one to fall back on.

For whatever reason it seems the people that are loosing reception are the ones that PAY for a shortie. I cut mine down to about 10" and my reception does not seem to have suffered.

In a bad way. But since I don't even listen to my radio that much (cd's) anymore, I don't care aboutreception much and besides, it's a hell of a lot better looking than the stock behemoth antannae. What was Ford thinking? Lightning rod?
And cutting an antennae seems to be fine since all it is basically is a wire encased in plastic to pick up reception from stations. I noticed without my antennae at all I would recieve mostly static.
