As Juztang touched-on lightly, it depends on what you're trying to accomplish -- and with what resources.

If you have interior stains, paint spiderwebbing, deep scratches, etc... what is "best" is different than if the vehicle is already in good shape and just needs to be maintained -- the approaches, chemicals and equipment can vary broadly.

There are lots of quality products available online as well as over the counter -- but there's a lot of overpriced junk out there, too (in addition to the cheap junk).

There's quite a few online resources besides those mentioned in this forum... www.detailguide.com has a downloadable "book" that you can print out if you like... it offers general tips along with some product-specific info.
