Default Regular cleaning. Give advice!

Hi this is my first time in this section! I was wondering what do you guys use to clean/shine the inside of the car such as the dash and such? I hear armor all is crap so what is another cleaner that i can pick up localy to clean it? Also i am getting chrome rims soon. If i plan on cleaning them once a week what would be a good product to use?

I use meguiars #40 for my dash and side panels and meguiars Gold Class rich leather cleaner/conditioner for the seats. For the wheels, I used mothers wheel and mag polish. Regular car wax works good too if you keep up on the wheels. These products all have great results. The #40 is getting hard to find for some reason. Lately i`ve only been able to find it at NAPA.

Off the shelf products are okay unless you're serious about getting your car's finish to last as long as possible and look the best it possibly can then I'd check out www.autogeek.netthey have lots of great products and I've been imperssed with those that I've seen and used. Otherwise you can't go wrong with meguiars or mother's, just stay away from harms-it-all (armor all). For now I use NXT on my vinyl. Mother's chrome polish I've had pretty good luck with and it protects for awhile.

So when it comes to the wheels and polishing them.. Is the mothers like an all in one cleaner/polisher? And what do you use to apply it? Just a sponge of some sort?

Just wash your wheels with soap and water and then use the Mothers Chrome Polish. It will clean and polish the wheels and leave a layer of protection on them. I like to use a foam applicator and then buff off with a microfiber towel.

So do you get the same problem with swirls on rims as you would your car paint? Mothers and a microfiber towel are both things that i could find at autozone arent they?

Or at Wal-mart. For interior I use Meguirs quick detail, works really good. For the glass I use...Oh whats is called....can't remember but it is a white can with purple top and spits out foam. Works very well an doesn't streak, even when your window fogs up you won't see the swipe marks. I don't even touch my wheels besides a quick swipe on the tires.....my rims are original 92 lx wheels and have looked like crap ever since I bought the car(I am getting some pony wheels pretty soon anyway). My Uncle uses some local tire cleaner that doesn't make them look wet or dry...just right. Hope that helps.

For washing, I swear by the Mr. Clean Car Wash kit. No bucket required, no water spots on paint or glass. I finish with McGuire's quick polish. I know a lot of people are anti-armor all, but I like it. I get the wipees - no washing rags later on. But the armor all glass cleaner sucks.

Armor-all works great for me.....does it harm stuff or something?

I've used it for a long time in different cars even before I got the stang, and it has always worked great.

There is nothing wrong with Armor All. In the past it had alcohol in it and was known for drying out and cracking interior parts. Now it is water based and is completely safe to use.
