How do you remove oxidation/water spots?
I have a 1996 Black Mustang Cobra with some paint issues. The previous owner (an elderly female bus driver) apparently did not do anything to maintain the paint. Reportedly the car just sat for the majority of the time she owned it..must be true, less than 10,000 miles when I bought it. Anyways, the paint has some oxidation, and water spots. I have tried several cleaner waxes inculing Zymol and 3M, with little improvement.
Any suggestions?

Clay Bar it first, then use a Porter Cable and do a professional 2 or 3 step polish. Talk to Justin over at Obsessive Detail and he can hook you up with the materials and the knowledge
Buy the following:
Porter Cable 7424
1 Orange Light Cutting Pad
2 White Polishing Pads
1 Blue Final Finishing Pad
Clay Bar
Poorboy's SSR2.5
Poorboy's SSR1
Clearkote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze
Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax.
Yes, it is a lot of stuff to buy and a good chunk of change. But, you'll have everything you need to bring that finish back to new. The Porter Cable is avery safe machine and is really needed to do the job right. The SSR products will remove the swirls and oxidation and leave a clean and clear finish behind. The Vanilla Moose will add some wetness while hiding some of the remaining swirls and marring. Finally, the Carnauba Moose Wax will give great protection and additional wetness.

Here are some pics of a 97 Cobra I did. First I claybarred and then I use the Poorboys SSR2.5 and SSR1 polishes with the Porter Cableto remove the oxidization, swirls, and water spots. I then topped it with Poorboys EX-P sealant with Poorboys Natty's blue on top of that.
This first pic shows how bad the water spots and oxidization of the hood.
