Default powder coating vs. painting

i plan on getting my rims professionally painted black. what is the price/ quality difference between powder coating and painting?? im mainly concerned with the price difference. i assume that powdercoating would be better quality and last long. anyone gotten their rims powdercoated or painted? thanks.

got mine powdercoated at Eastcoast Powder Coating www.eastcoastpowdercoating.com . It cost $120 per wheel, but I've got 20s and the chrome had to be blasted off first. If you're doing a smaller diameter the price is less. I don't really know about painting. I love my satin black powdercoated wheels!

Ya know I just don't understand the infatuation with black rims. To me, when I see them on a car, I think they need to wash their rims.......they look dirty 24/7.
Now I can understand using them for racing, but for the streets.....give me some bling, but to each their own.

Alright... here's a recommendation: ceramic coating... tougher than powdercoating and probably about the same price from what I hear. Ceramic coating will withstand the higher temperatures of racing pads.

If you're on a budget, PlastiKotemakes a DIY wheel coating. I've seen it at Pep Boys, and probably the other major auto stores carry it.
