is regular soap really bad??
i have been hearing that regular soap is bad to wash a car with - i dont know much about this but idont wanna kill the nice paint -
ive only washed it 2 or 3 times so far with this stuff so hopefully even if it is bad, no harm done - but is it bad to keep using it?
and is there any way to tell if i HAVE damamged the finish (aside from looking at it)

well, often times dishwashing soap can try to strip off the clear coat I think - they say its good to use dishwashing soap if your gonna be waxing your car or laying vinyl or something. otherwise some cheap auto parts car wash stuff would be better
Dishwashing soap is a big no no, and this is speaking from personal experience. Dunno about that waxing stuff, but i wouldnt use dishwashing soap anyways. And unless you already know this, its best to wash your ride in the shade because it reduces the amount of waterspots you might have when your done.
ok ok i guess i wont use it anymore - any ok brands i should use instead? i keep hearing good things about zaino and maguires - are they easy to ffind? and which type (like i know maguires has a lot of diff products) to use?
and also like i asked before, if i used regular soap (only a few times) should i worry??

also, the soap will strip off any coats of wax that you have on ur car. with car soap, u dont need to reapply wax after every washing. It probobl didn't hurt too bad, i have washed my car a few times with dishwashing soap. dont worry about it just dont do it again i guess.. [sm=badidea.gif]
The only time I've been told to use dishwashing soap is when applying vinyl graphics. It helps with the vinyl setting to the car.
I suggest using something from an auto store-- or really anything for cars will be safe on the paint. I like armor all car wash and mr. clean autodry wash kit. The autodry kit requires no drying and filters the hard water, which makes my car a lot easier to clean.
