painting - info needed
Know that honeycomb piece that CDC sells (came with 35th anniversary)? I was looking at one of those but since I pretty much got rid of all the honey comb on my car, I dont think it looks right. I'm planning to just paint the area between the tail lights a matte black but I've never dont any auto paint before.
I'm looking for simple directions on how to do this and get a clean smooth look with no overspray.
Some of the questions I have are:
Is there a special tape I should use to mask off the area?
Can I do this without removing the trunk lid or is that pretty much mandatory?
Do I need an air gun/compressor or can this be done with a spray can (and still come out decent?
Do I need to strip any of the current paint or clear coat away?
Do I need to use primer?
Should I apply clear coat on top?
Any tips on how to paint? (side to side?)
Thanks,
FS
