Default Carnuba wax question

I used a pure carnuba wax for the first time yesterday - P21S - It was relatively expensive. My question is - is it supposed to be hard like real "wax"? It was difficult to apply and I would probably not use it again but I was just wondering if it was supposed to be that consistency or if it was old or dried.

Try dampening your applicator pad with some Quick Detailer spray. It should help. I've never used P21S but I have alot of boutique waxes and not noticed them being really hard. P21S is usually considered a great paste wax. You should really look into getting some Poorboy's Natty Blue or Natty's Paste Wax if you're looking for a good paste. Its hard to beat for the price, about half the price of P21S ( $15 v/s $35).

P21 is supposed to be the best.

Thanks - I know it is supposed to be good wax - I was just wondering if it was supposed to be like this"wax" texture or if had dried out (I had bought it 3 years ago and it was closed and stored indoors but I just used it yesterday for the first time to try it)

I had only used paste carnuba before and it was much more like "paste" as opposed to this which was more like wax and kind of difficult to get on the applicator pad I was using (microfiber). Is it because it is supposed to be "purer"? Just wnat to make sure it is OK.

P21S is a good wax. Whetherits the best wax is debatable. There's too many waxes out in the market to say which one is best. Alot depends on prep and alot depends on how it looks to you.

Rogan, try using a foam applicator. Some waxes suggest using either or. With paste waxes I usually go with a foam applicator. It seems a little easier to spread a thinner coat. Mist the pad and try it.

Thanks Cooter - I' try it - it actually came with a small foam applicator but I thought it was too small and thin - I used a microfiber pad.

Don't know if you've ever used it but it is more of a "hard wax" than a paste - never used anything like it before - that is why I was asking if it was still OK or if it had dried out. Seems it is normal. Just used it for the first time yesterday - I will report on results after a week.

Its probably fine. I dont know if there's an expiration date on waxes. Put a thin coat on the car. You might try doing one panel at a time (fender, door etc).

I do think I put too much on - always had a problem with this so that's why I'm really considering a PC. Not used to this kind of product but Ipaid for it (about 2-3 yrs ago) so I figured I would try it. Take care.

Just used mine last weekend and it was the consistency of soft butter. Went on and off real easy.

If you used a microfiber, you just ended up too thick. I use it on all my cars, and the secret is to put enough on so you can just barely see it. The best part of that wax is that you can apply to the flat black and plastic parts, and it will not stain, or dull!! Dont give up on it, once done right you wont be sorry. Just use the foam pad,,,, I promise
