Hey all I'm new to the crew and have a question about a cobra i just picked up.....I have a 97 Cobra with bassani exhaust, and the check engine light keeps being triggered by the dwon flow sensor seeing dirtier emissions thank it'll pass. i have heard of a sensor trick that can be installed and i was wondering where i can get a couple and how much they are. the Ford speed shop i bought the car from wants $135to install the parts including labor.....is this a good price, i am mechanically inclined and am capable when it comes to how things work,any info is great,thanks for your time</P>

They are called MIL eliminators. You can get them on ebay for as cheap as 25 bucks for a set of two. They work by fooling your computer into thinking the o2 sensers are reading within specs. Also, alot of places sell them online, prices ranging from 59.95 to 89.95.

A lot of people think the MIL eliminators just turn off the light...they do...but the light is no longer on, which eliminates the rich condition your computer is feeding the motor. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

What's this?

If you're getting a catylist inefficiency code (which is what I'm getting on my Subaru) due to exhaust gasses cooling off before hitting the cat, why would the ECU try to make it run richer? I would think that it would try and run a little hotter (which is lean, right?) to get the cat back up to temp.

hmm

But my RS runs mad rich. I wonder... Perhaps I'll have to give it a shot.

Im pretty sure that whenever an OBDII cpu senses a problem with the motor, it cuts timing and runs the motor rich, reguardless of what is causing the problem.

Sounds like a deal! I know on GM cars, whenever the service engine soon light popped up, the computer went into 'limp home' mode and retards the timing and richens the air/fuel mixture.</P>
