What kind did you get? Most of the aftermarket ones just slip over the stock one.

i had the same problem buddy. all the ebrake handles they sell for mustangs slip over the stock one, in my opinion its gay because then you have an ebrake handle thicker than your dick. i bought a real nice chrome and carbon fiber handle that was a universal part meant for hondas and ****, but it looked real nice, goes with my shift ****. there is no way to just take the stock one off, its molded plastic and its fromed over the metal. if you realy want to put the aftermarket one on you have to get a real nice knife and cut the old plastic one off. its not easy at all but after i was done i was very happy. 1, my ebrake isnt 2in in diameter and 2, it looks like no other stang out there. i honestly spent about half an hour cutting and pulling the old one off but it looks real clean. my friend has one that slips over and it just doesnt look right with how thick it is.
