Default dash trim kit

I am considering buying a dash trim kit from eBay or elsewhere to wake up my plain black bland interior on my '02 GT. I am searching the forums for opinions but don't see much talk. Probably because Mustang people aren't into bling as much as we are into HP/TQ. Anyway, if anybody can recommend or advise on which kits are good and which ones suck that would be great. Below are 3 that I am eyeballing right now and my observations regarding them:

This is the one that I fear may not look good as it would be thicker real actual aluminum and the cut-out area like around the ***** may look silly:

This one seems nice but they never actually mention what material it is made of and I'll have to ask:

This one is made of non-viynl plastic and may look and fit nice:

I looked at that Roush. It is on E-bay for like $170. It doesn't contain many pieces. Probably is quality though. Decisions, decisions.

It looks really good man. I painted much of the interior on my '99 Contour SE and it turned out great. This time I was thinking of going with an unpainted look like carbon fiber or brushed aluminum. I worry that I'll order a kit for over $100 and it'll turn out to be a piece of dogcrap.

Hmmm, well I think the first one is the best of the 3 there, but I agree you should probably go with an actual website/dealer. That way if you do have problems, you can work it out somehow with the site. A lot of times, Ebay is hard to get refunds or anything on. Atleast a lot of people I've known have had trouble with monetary returns and all that.

Or you could just paint it, if all else fails.

They definitely look hot though.

say away from the stick on trim kits! i work as a detailer at a car wash and people come in with the stick on trim kits and it just looks trashy, plus they start to peel after awhile. my advice is find one that replaces the plastic pieces, or paint yours. i dont know of any websites off the top of my head that sell them but i had a friend with a 99 V6 and he had a carbon fiber kit that replaced the factory plastic with carbon fiber pieces, looked realy good.

I've got my trim kit for my 04 stang from www.nycdashes.com. They were pretty quick getting it to me, and the red looks good w/ the tan leather and the torch red car. Good Luck w/ the decision.

95Stang5.0 What kind of paint did you use?? I painted my interior, but it gets dirty really easy, and everytime I try to wash it...some paint comes off. I have my original black parts that came with my car still, so I can still go back to black. Let me know what you used, thanks!

I painted the interior on my '99 Contour SE and it turned out great. One pic is below which does not do it justice. I used plasti-coat paint. from wal-mart. I am not an expert and I think that I probably did some things wrong but here are the basic that are most important that I have learned:

-sand the entire peice to scuff it up so paint will adhere
-piece must be absolutely clean as possible prior to painting
-never use heavy coats. be patient. follow paint directions for flash time, temperature etc
-do the same with a clear coat

There are more rules and some people will argue all day about sanding and waxing but those rules above in my opinion are the most important. Mine turned out absolutely great!

I don't want my GT painted though. I really want the brushed metal look. If I can't get a quality kit, I may paint it silver or some other metal like color.

Hope this helps...
