Turtle Wax Ice
Turtle Wax ICE
So Turtle Wax asked if someone from the forum would give their new product a try and do a little write up. Being the skeptic that I am, I volunteered for the task. I'm always interested in giving new products a shot. A few days after the discussion, a box arrived at my house. A bottle of Ice Car Wash, a bottle of Ice Spray Detailer, a bottle of Ice Liquid Clay Bar, a bottle of Ice Liquid Polish, and a can of Ice Paste Polish. What's really cool about this set is that it comes with everything you need for a complete job of washing, removing everything from the paint, and then to polish. The applicators, and a couple of micro fiber rags. Nice touch.
So I start with my black Fox Body Mustang. I washed the car according to their instructions, seems like everyday carwash, but I did notice that after I rinsed it off, the water kind of sheeted off the car, making the drying process quick and painless.
Then I moved on to the liquid clay bar. Let me start off by saying that my car needs many things, however a clay bar isn't one of them. But these guys claim an incredible shine. So I'll bite. (Being the sucker for a shiny smooth black Fox that I am) Liquid Clay Bar it is. The clay bar liquid comes with a handy foam applicator, and is super simple to apply and remove. Following the directions, one panel at a time, and rinsing with cold water when you're done. I was perhaps a little over zealous and wanted to see what these guys had, so I scrubbed a little harder than they suggested, and it wasn't a problem.
After I was done with the Liquid Clay Bar, I took a step back and looked at the car. It really looked awful, and I really hoped their polish was going to do what they claimed. So I started with one of the fenders using the paste polish and applying with the included applicator. I should note here that Turtle Wax claims this polish can be applied in the sun, but being from the school of "I've done that before, and won't be making that mistake again" I decided to forego that test, and I'll take their word for it. After applying the paste to the fender, I let it set for a minute or two, honestly not very long and wiped it right off using the micro fiber towel that came with the kit. Wow. This is where I became really impressed. Not only did it come right off andnot leave any white powder, the shine was amazing. Amazing enough that I threw another coat on it just to see if it would get any better. Whoa! The fender looked like it had just been painted, and truly had that "Wet Look." Now I couldn't wait to do the rest of the car. On my trip around the car, I was careful to go out of my way to hit trim, various plastic pieces, and glass just to see if what they said was true. Alas, I was again impressed. It wiped right off the trim and plastic just as they said it would, and didn't leave any marks. Same for the glass. Although, it's never recommended to wax the glass in your car.
Now I had done the rest of the car, and it really looked great. Except for that first fender that I had done. Somehow, it just looked better than the rest of the car. So around the car I went again with the paste, and wipedit off with even less effort this time. This car looks amazing.
I did give the liquid polish a try, and really didn't notice a difference between it or the paste, but I'm just a paste kind of guy and it gives me a feeling of actually doing something when I use it. Both are excellent products, just choose which ever you prefer.
I think it's pretty clear that I am impressed with the products at this point. But how will it look tomorrow after I drive it to work? So the next morning, I rolled it out of the garage, and out in the sun, it looked even better than I thought it did last night. Off to work I went, my usual route, and of course a little abuse to the Mickey's on the back of the car. I got to work and noticed I had driven through a construction zone and the car had a slight covering of dust on it. Annoyed that I had just spend the time making it look the way it did...The dust did offer me an opportunity to give their liquid detailer a shot. Of course after doing that, it looked just as deep and rich as it did the night before. Amazing.
Now I obviously didn't give it the 52 carwash test, but all in all, these guys have a great product. It did what it promised, and was ridiculously easy to use. Great shine, and it appears that it just keeps getting better the more you use it.
 Two thumbs up Turtle Wax...

It didn't streak at all for me. Did you let it dry to a haze before you wiped it off? I've noticed with a lot of other wax, if you put it on too thick, and don't let it fully dry, it will streak really bad.
Well, I just picked up some of the paste stuff tonight at Wal Mart. I`ll try it this weekend. For $16 for just the paste wax, applicator, & microfiber towel, it should polish the car by itself while I just sit in the shade & watch
I used the liquid on my black 07 and it was a pain to get off.. I let it completely dry and it just seemed extremely greasy. Very hard to get it off. I'll stick the the porr boy's natty blue paste from Justin at obsessive detail..
I'm out here on Guam, and I use this stuff almost religiously...I'd say about 1x a month...don't want the salty air screwing up the ride...no problems!! I love it!!!
I've tried the Turtle Wax Ice on twovehiclesand I got different results.
It seemed to workOK on the newer vehicle.
Although not the best shine I have seen It was easier to use than wax and the shine was just as good.
It was not as good for the older car, It was a dark midnight blue and it streaked and swirled up noticably.
It does not cake up like wax but it was not so easy comming off,I would still pick the Ice overa conventional wax or polish. Forblack and dark colored cars new or old, I recommend the new automotive acrylic paint conditioners.APCs perform better and require the least amount of application, time, effort and there is no buffing.
