Prime and paint questions
Basically the paint is shot.
I need to do the whole car.
1. How easy is it to prime?
2. How much will priming tools cost?
3. How much will cheap, glossy paint cost that will last a year or so? (Just to sell it)
I really can't sell it without a paint job, and I really can't pay a lot to paint it.

If you got a paint gun, then your in business. If not then you can get one for a few hundred dollars to do the job your looking for. For the paint, if you want it cheap, go with a single stage paint (no clear). However, this will NOT give that glossly/depth look to your paint, it will look good enough to sell and is cheaper than 2 stage. Beware. Single stage has to be laid down smooth since you cant really sand out imperfections as you can with a clear coat. Good luck
if your just painting to sell then i would waste my time primeing it becuase you will have to send it before you paint it. so just get a sealer. you dont have to sand sealer and you can get atintable sealer to make your close to the color of paint you want. i would do this if definately if you go with single stage. it will be easier to cover and will take less coats. you can get a cheap gun for less then $100. and the paint, sealer and all the hardners and reducers for like $200 to $300
OK thanks for the info guys...even if it is a bit late
I still haven't done anything so this is very useful information to me.
I will try and get a clear coat anyway because it's going to need it.

you guys are correct in SOME areas; I am an autobody painter by trade-
single stage can be sanded and buffed to a gloss like clearcoat; but you will be sanding on the color so if you go that route spray a solid color- no metallics or pearls! if you are unsure or afraid to do this to your new paint job go to a reputable detailer; they can do it for you. Hope this helps!

yeah i painted a truck with a gray metallic paint once and it ended up looking like i had sprayed it with base and forgot to clear it. it was a really cheap paint but now i want spray any metallic single stage. but i have sparyed some really nice looking solid colors.
