Default washing during winter

This question isn't exactly about my mustang, but I'm hoping someone can help me out anyway.

My mustang was stolen over a month ago. As much as I loved that car, I needed something more practical so I finally replaced it last week with a Dodge Ram 1500 pick up. I still plan on being just as much of a fanatic about keeping this truck in prime condition though.

I drove her up from Florida to New York where I'm attending university. There's bug splatters and dirt everywhere. I plan on letting her sit all winter in a protective car cover (there's no garage), but I want to wash it first. Right across from my school is a car wash place where you can do it yourself. It's hovering around freezing here though... would that be a bad idea? Would one of those brushless automated car washes be better? Should I try to clean my truck some other way?

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is my first winter so I'm a newb to all of this.

I agree to Optimum No Rinse. It is a very impressive product I used to wash my car the conventional way hose it all down and it do it that way. All you need for this product is 1 cap full of product to 1 gallon of water and your good to go!

yeah i recently had to wash in the cold with the no rinse and a bucket of warm water. Works great but just make sure to do it when its above freezing temp, or else the water would freeze before you can dry it off lol.

Would you guys use Optimum No Rinse on a cover covered in salt? The demos online show very nice cars but they seemed already pretty clean.

yeah I used it on my car's bumper that was caked with salt and mud from the roads, haven't seen a single scratch or swirl mark in that area a few days later. You have to use a bit more no rinse on the really dirty areas.

here is a video on the no rinse with a dirty car
