Cleaning Engine
So I recently purchased a 2002 Ford Mustang Gt, and the engine is pretty dirty. I have attached a picture of it and was wondering what I should use to clean it. I recognize that mines is dirtier than most and that i can not just wipe it down with some armor all. Also according to the owners manual, I only need to cover the areas highlighted in blue, but I wanted to double check that that is all I need to cover up. Thanks.

As per your instructions there, cover up the electrical components and coat the engine LIBERALLY with some Engine Degreaser (Gunk is the one that I have used in the past) Let it sit per the instructions, then rinse off with the garden hose and a typical nozzel - not a pressure washer. Let it dry then wipe off whatever grease/grime is left that you can get to and then apply a liberal coating of CD-2 Engine Detailer. This stuff goes on like a tire foam, but it is meant to bake on with the heat of an engine and it is not as greasy as armorall or tire foam...which means less build-up between cleaning. The CD-2 will literally give your engine compartment that new car shine

As for the CD-2 I'm guessing the only place that carries it is Midway? I'm in Houston and havent been able to find a place that carries that.
Also for the electrical components,I should just cover the battery, alternator, and fuse box?I really want to make sure dont mess anything up.
Thanks for the help.

Correct - Midway is the only place I know of that carries it. Also try Justin at Obsessive Detail as I know he was working on getting the product for distribution.
As for cleaning - I have never covered up anything. Just don't soak the altenator, fuse box or ignition coils and you should be fine. If something gets wet and the car won't start or runs rough then shut it off and let it dry out overnight and all will be fine.
HOWEVER - after looking at your engine pic it looks to me like you don't need to soak with degreaser or hose off. Just use a rag and a light mixture of water and degreaser like Margarita Girl did (see other post about engine cleaning) and wipe it down by hand, then coat with the CD-2. With the CD 2 you don't have to worry about covering anything as you are not putting enough on to cause any problems. I coat my battery with it and all of my wires/cables....basically anything that you can see with the naked eye. Now, I wouldn't spray it directly into the altenator
