Default convertible care question

I just bought a mustand convertible. I'm curious whether the liquid wax used in a car wash will damage the cloth top. I hope not, as I hate having to do the wax on, wax off thing. Does anyone here know the answer?

All I can tell you is the owners manual says that it will damage it. Never used it so I can't tell you if it really will. It also says not to use car washes with high pressure sprayers because that can damage the top too.
But to be honest, that car wash wax doesn't do anything. It would be much better for your car if you did it by hand.

When I do a pressure wash on my car, I never do the top. You can buy special top cleaning products.

Don't get your car washed at a car wash. Thats what scratches the paint. Do it by yourself.

if it really has wax in it then id imagine that the wax would dry on the top and turn white and chalky, and it wont be too easy to buff wax out of a vinyl top, so i wouldnt suggest it. id wash it with regualr car wash and wax it by hand. If you are really trying to find an easy way out of waxing then i would try some of that wax as you dry stuff, it cant work any worse than the wash with the wax in it.

I don't think the wax they use will hurt it too bad. But there are products out there to help protect your vinyl top. I use one call "ragg topp". I found it online, it works great, and it's reasonably priced.

Just wash your top with soap and water. And dont wax it... theres no reason to wax it cuz it wont shine no matter what you do lol... If you really wanna keep your top in good condition just keep it in your garage.. I think it is vinyl that comes on the stangs except for the cobra and saleen, They have the high quality cloth tops.... could be wrong tho...
