Default wash, wax, waterspots?

So, i havnt had time lately to wash my car. I took it to a little detailing shop (one of those little private ones on a corner, not a big car wash).
When i got my car back the hood was covered in waterspots. Shouldnt a wash and wax then not have any waterspots? did they let the water dry on the hood, then wax on top of it?
The car is only 3 months old, and they said i had them when i brought it in.. if they were there when i brought it in, wouldnt the washing get rid of them??

If the car was only washed and waxed that wouldn't remove the waterspots. They would have had to used a polish to remove the waterspots. Some waterspots come off easy and other ones are hard to get off. I would say since your car is so new they should come off with ease. Start off with a chemical polish, if that doesn't work use a light abrassive polish. Then you will have to top it with a wax because it will completely clean the paint and strip any wax that was previously on the car.

If they washed the car outside and didn't get it dried quick enough they could have left waterspots. It is really hard to tell, it could have already been there. Black is pretty easy to get waterspots if not dryed off right away. As long as you keep good protection on there they should come off real easy.

black cars are a PITA to wash. I usually try and wash mine in the evening just when the sun begins to set to reduce water spots. Also, use a good absorbant towel.

I use a towel similar to the "amazing drier" that justin sells for the final dry of my car. I get the heavy stuff off by using regular soft detailing towels and carefully using soft bath towels, then use a nice large towel like I mentioned to totally dry it off and it works out great. Biggest thing is to dry the places that water collets. Mirrors, behind front license plates etc, because as you drive water will fly out and spot your car.

The waterspots probably didn't come from the detailers. Typically the calcium deposits left behind from water takes a little time to develop into something you and I can't take off without ease. Yes it's true you have a window of time to dry off the car before this happens, however after the detailers washed the car, there might have been some water spotting. The time in-between washing and waxing, in my opinion was not enough time for the spots not to come off without ease. These spots might have already been there and after you're ride was detailed, the car had much more depth allowing the spots to become much more visible.
