Default quick wax question?

hey guys the other day I was waxing my black car and went threw like 5 different waxes. First I used 3m and it put swirls everywhere, then I used meguires that was even worse, third I used mothers and that wasen't as bad, then I tried some of the new formula turtle was that is black paste kind of with a black pen, last I used regular old turtle wax and it worked the best out of all. Why is this? I was using the wax applicator it came with to apply it and a microfiber towel to buff it out. Why is it that turtle wax was the only one to work good? did I do something wrong with the other ones?
Would anyone want to wright me a list of waxes sealers and polisher to use and in what order? all I usually do is wash the car and occassionally wax it. I can get my car professionally detailed at the prison near me for like 10 cents an hour but I just dont know what kind of equipment to get because I cant go talk to them because its the actual prisoners who would work on my car, I cant talk to them only my dad can because he works there.

See what it looks like the first time you wash it. It may have just been all that wax acting as fillers to fill those swirl marks or you may have been using a cleaner wax and they will help with swirls too. As far as I know, the only way to get rid of swirls is with a polisher or rotary.

Check out Justin's site. He'll has some great products and will be glad to help you.

it looks good now but there is still really bad swirls and I dont know how to remove them or what to use, the products look really nice from obsessivedetail but I would rather go to somewhere where I can actually see it before I buy it. so any reccomendations for anything I can find locally? o and I just went and looked at the 3m stuff I used and it wasnt wax it was rubbing compound

with the buffer there is not any places that i can think of that you can buy it at a store i may be wrong though

and with most over the counter walmart type detailing products are not as good as stuff that is going to cost more that you will have to order

you might try to find a local detailer and see what they use and if they sell any products that they like

the only practical way to get swirls out is to get a portercable buffer

but any polish should work to get rid of some of the swirls

the reason you have really bad swirls is because you used rubbing compound. very bad... thats almost like taking mud and rubbing it into your paint. you should never need rubbing compound on your car unless it has never been taken care of. being a first time detailer, you best bet is prob to take it to a professional and have them buff it out. its going to cost you a nice chunk of change, but you more than likely done alot of damage using rubbing compound. but you will hear most of the people in this section live by justins products at www.obsessivedetail.com and i cant blame them. i have been very satisfied with everything i have bought from him, and its really not much more expensive than anything you get at autozone.
