quick wax question?
Ya i know that was really bad for my paint I thought it was wax at first but then half way threw waxing just the hood. Getting the car professionally done will be really cheep for me maybe like $1 or $2 If I buy the equipment because my dad works at the prison near me and the prisoners who were professional detailers on the outside do detailing in prison for like 20-30 cents an hour and I have seen some of their work and their really good.
You think having prisoners buff your car is considered professionally done? Even if they did it for a living, they have no insurance and it takes less than 1 second of snoozing to burn right down to metal with a rotary. They won't be using an idiot-proof Porter Cable.
Why not buy the tools you need, or go to a detailer who is insured? So if something bad happens, your car will be covered without having YOUR insurance rates go sky high from a claim?
Sounds like you messed up pretty bad with the 3m rubbing compound.
If you insist on seeing a Porter Cable buffer, you can go to any store that carries tools. Home Depot carries Porter Cable brand and my local Home Depot has them in stock, but they are pricier than Justin. Then you'll need to locate the proper buffing pads.
Save yourself a headache. Go look at Home Depot and fondle the PC and giggle like a little girl. Find a Porter Cable buffing package you like anywhere online, buy it and rest assured that you'll fix your boo-boo and have a tool that can keep your paint looking paint booth fresh.

no way would i let prisoners detail my car. granted it seems like they will do a better job than you did. whatever you buy, make sure you read the directions and know what it does. if you want a decent cleaner/polish/wax that you can buy in the store and is easy to use, then i would suggest the mequiars 3step kit that you can pick up pretty much anywhere for around $15. it more than likely wont get the scratches out from the rubbing compound, but i dont think you really need to get your hands on anything more abrasive than that if you are just beginning.
Take it to a real detailer to get the car buffed out completly then maintain it yourself with some of the products from www.obsessivedetail.com I can't say that the products are the best but I can say that they are much better than the products you will find at any parts store or Walmart and if you go by price they are a great value. The whole job is in the prep and obsessive sells everything to prep the car the right way. Try to clay the car next time. Then get the sealer to seal in the paint.
