I've used Mothers Reflections wax for a couple of years now. It's pretty much the best that i've used personally. Kinda pricey, but worth it.

If you want one of the best for your car use the CilaJet Paint sealant. It is costly but one of the best. Otherwise you could use Car Brite Paint sealant/Weather Shield for a long lasting seal. Mothers is good for a store bought brand. But you might like Nanowax. All are good products. The key to a great shine however is the prep. Make sure you prep the paint by using a clay bar and removing all oxidation. Sometimes it is better to take the car to get professionally detailed then maintain the shine with a high end product. Good luck. Check out some of the stuff at Obsessive. It is likely the best stuff that is readily available at an affordable price.

if you are looking for an over the counter product, then i have always had good results with meguiars NXT wax. the best clay bar i have found is the blue magic clay bar. if you are looking for nicer products that you can only pick up online and in high end detail shops, then juztang at obsessivedetail.com has some very great products. they arent much more expensive than mothers/meguiars stuff and are well worth the extra cash. i have spent quite a bit with him over the past year or so and i have been nothing short of extremely satisfied so far.

i've had decent experience with meguiar's nxt 2.0 as an over the counter wax

claymagic blue is def. bang for your buck, but its a little too stiff for my liking

for an over the counter clay i like meg's white or mother's yellow

hey ryan what makes you like the clay magic? maybe im doing something wrong

the clay magic just seems to be a little more agressive and pick up more contaminants than the mothers and meguiars kit. i tried the meguiars kit with the 2 small white bars on my gf's car a couple weeks ago because i couldnt find the clay magic, and it just felt like i left alot behind. the mothers kit isnt too bad, but i just think the clay magic is a little better, and its only about $10 as opposed to $17. i dont have any use for the little bottle of carnuba that comes in the mothers kits either.

and to the OP, i know this is red, not black, but all we use on this car is a clay bar and nxt wax. no polishes or anything other than that. i jut cant really vouch for the durability because i tend to wax my car every few weeks, and the camaro doesnt see any weather and is only driven a few times a month. but from all the other opinions, it lasts quite some time compared to most over the counter waxes.

i think the least aggressive to most aggressive is something like: green, white, yellow, blue, red?

something like that. i totally agree with you that the blue picks up a lot more, to me it's just hard to kneed [:@], i'd rather make a couple extra passes with the yellow. JMO

and to OP, i have only tried nxt 2.0 liquid, not the paste, but from my experience it's great stuff that lasts about 5 weeks

yeah, it is a little harder than the other clay. the mequiars white is extremely soft. i didnt like it at all. i normally use it outside in the sun, or in a heated shop so i have never really had much of an issue with kneading it. just stretch it out a little and fold it over a couple times.

Has anyone microwaved the clay to soften it?

I have had good luck with Meguiars NXT liquid. It gives a good shine. I am starting to try into the more expensive stuff that you can find online though. Obsessive Detail ftw!
