Cracked hood
I have a '98 Mustang and I got into a bit of a bump.
Driving 35-ish on US1 [it was raining hard] and this a-hole comes from the side, hits a puddle and I just get a windshield full of water. By the time my wipers got the water off, I saw a car infront of me and it was too late.
I hit him just barely. Just enough for the paint on my bumper to come off (it was a cheap paint job. The person who owned it before me got hit from the passenger side and must've replaced the bumper... or something. The paint created a shell... and after it was bent it just chipped away), it bent my horse, and put a 1/2" deep, 2" sideways crack in the shape of an L.
I was just wondering how hard / costly it would be to repair this? I looked it up and a new hood is $250... plus paint it's gunna come out to like $300-350. If it's cheaper, I'd rather repair it.

i was in your situation a few months ago. i had a little crack about 3" long and i decided it would probably be better to buy a new one because of all the movement a hood sees. im sure they could have fixed it with some bondo, but i dont want it to separate a year down the road and have the paint crack and look like crap. it would probably be cheaper for you to have it fixed, but there is the possibility it will come back down the road because opening and closing your hood.
I was thinking more fiberglass than bondo. I'm not sure if the fiberglass would crack. But, it'd be a bitch to sand it out and get it even and nice looking.
How much did it cost you to buy a hood / paint?
