Default Clearcoat suggestions...

So Im assuming the original owner of my car may have washed it using well water bcuz I have mineral deposits stuck on the clearcoat. It almost looks like water spots all over the hood and fenders, but none of my efforts thus far have been able to clear it up. Ive claybared the whole car twice now in the last few months, on top of about 4 waxes with liquid and paste waxes (Im a little OCD-ish about my car, but arent we all in some way or another? ) Im at a loss here cuz nothing Ive tried can seem to get rid of it, and it looks awful. Friends have told me to use such things as 3M rubbing compound, or Nu Finish Scratch remover, but Im a little leary about using these products on such a large area of my car. As I said, the effected area is my whole hood and the tops of my fenders. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

never heard of the product that 92stangerang mentioned so i cant really comment on that, but my suggestion would be to use a polish on it. a wax isnt going to do anything but seal in the waterspots and prevent more from forming. i wouldnt go with something as harsh as a rubbing compound, but 3M does make some great products. i would just try and find a light polish from either 3m or the meguiars professional line(in tan bottles). these arent going to be as flashy, because they arent designed to appeal to the general public, but more towards the detailers. just try out a polish and see if that helps you out any.
