wen orbital buffer
found this old school buffer (early 90s?) called a wen orbital buffer in my basement. its a 10" random orbital buffer and i was wondering if this would be ok to use to polish and wax instead of the porter cable one (i dont know if theres any big no-nos about this lol). if this one is fine, anyone know where to get pads and stuff for it?
Hey man. I've got a question about it.
1. Whats the RPM or OPM (orbits per min).
My thing is this. If it doesnt have the OPM and its a 10in pad, I dont think its gonna do much for you.
2. Will it accept smaller pads??
3. Is it like one of those 10in buffer/polisher's you get WM?

Yeah... My Dad has a similar unit. It's fine for a wax job but I doubt it will live under the resistance that polish and other more aggressive paint correction products will give it. The one my Dad has bogs down a little when just waxing. I imagine if I was to use it for any serious paint correction, it would just burn out the motor before long. The PC is the standard in the Detail world from what I have gathered. Yes, there are higher priced units and rotary only polishers that only the skilled should touch. In our case, us enthusiasts and hobbiests, the PC is the best for the money. Yes, it may seem like a lot of cash, but its one of those purchases you will never regret.
The Porter Cable polisher is really worth the investment, it is a high speed orbital that is completely safe on your paint and you can get excellent results with it.
As mentioned above, the polisher you have now won't really correct that much at all. It is mainly made to apply waxes with.
