Default Mildew smell, please help.

Hello fellow convertablians, I have two small leaks from the rear window, at the bottom corners, and water would drip into the pouch. I am going to fix that leak with some sealant, but what to do about the mildew smell? My carpet doesn't smell, but an aroma is lingering around. What am I to do?

Thank you,
Phil

Have you tried airing it out in the sun? Sometimes all it takes is the windows down on a warm day. If that doesn't do the trick, I'd suggest Febreze.

top down febreze then stick a little thing of baking soda under the seat will absorb the smell http://bobthejanitor.stores.yahoo.net/cdc84011.html. I own a house cleaning service in FL called JC cleaning Love those products. also my mom sometimes shoves dryer sheets in the creases of her seats lol it does smell good. hope this helps

Dryer sheets? lol That is interesting. Would it hurt to place dryer sheets in between leather? No harm to the color or material??
What kills me, is that I smoke, and I can smell the mildew over the slight smoke stench in my car. Not a good impression on passengers. I left my windows down all day, hopefully that does the trick. If not, Febreez, baking soda and dryer sheets, haha.

Chnaces are that water leaked down under your back seat. When my topp leaked and the rear window prety much fell out. I had to take the rear seat out and clean it realy good with dawn or any other good cleaner, and a power washer. Let the foam soak in the water and stand on it to squeeze out the water and repeat till no more soap comes out of it. after you wash it stand on it and squeeze out as much water as you can. than It will have to sit out side the car for a few days to finish drying out. Or you can do the cheap no garrentee way......get alot of cans of lysol and spray the poo out off the area where the back seat is. To remove the back seat ther are 2 clips you have to press in and lift on the seat. you shouldnt have to remove the back part of the seat unles you want to clean that aswell.

I've tried lifting the front of the back seat, it seems to be bolted down. Don't get me wrong, I have taken out backseats before, but damn, I can't even lift it to see of any clips. Now, as far as washing the back seat out, I have leather. Won't the water and soapmess the leather up?

Also, in the back area where the "pouch" sits, there are two square holes in the pouch with little velcroed flaps on them, what are those for??

Not sure what you can do with leather seats....I always get cloth seats on any of my vehicles.....I don't like sitting on hot seats and burning my rear or teh sliding feature. there should be 2 clips one on each side of the car oin the middle where the people sit. you push in the clip with a screw driver aqnd it should pop out. probably pull the seats out make sure everything is dry and spray down the back area with lysol before you put them back in.
