Default Tar(asphalt) removal

What a week, on top of the paint transfer on the side of my new car I somehow managed to get tar all over my hood/front bumper. What's the best way to remove it without scratching my hood into oblivion?

Stoner Tarminator works great on tar, I use it everyday!

Have to agree with Justin here, every time I've had tar from fresh asphalt on my car the tarminator literally melts it off.

How did the paint transfer situation work out?

Well, the tar came off fine. Excluding the area where my grandma insisted she could just "rub off the black stuff with her hand". I think the paint transfer will have to be taken care of by a body shop. It's a little worse than I initially thought.
