Default MAACO paint job

Hi,
My cars paint isn't all that bad but i still would like to get it repainted. My friend has a maaco paint job on his vintage and it looks just astounding. very beautiful and very cheap. Why do people bash on their paint jobs? My car is black and the paint almost looks brown, there are lots of scratches etc. etc. and really i want to get the whole thing painted.
Would i be worse off with a MAACO paint job than i would if i just left it alone? because the way everybody is talking they make it sound like maaco paint jobs are the devil.
What exactly is so bad about them, besides the fact they get paint in wrong places? i just want to have the car re sprayed black so that it will look even better.. should i stay away? if it's not maaco then i'm not going to get it painted, theres no way i'm spending a penny over 500 dollars to paint her
Also, will MAaco include a clear coat with the cheap 400 something dollar paint job they sell?

If you aren't willing to spend over $500 to paint the car then don't bother. A good paint job is going to cost much more than that.

500 is not even enough for the paint

$4000-5000 easily to have the entire car done properly.

the maaco here does a car, the same color, for like 299. i highly doubt the paint quality is any good, kind of like those places that do oil changes for like 9.99, using recycled cheap *** oil and 99 cent filters. you really do get what ya pay for man

maaco wont fix all the dents for that prince or really repair anything, all they will do is scuff the paint and tape it up and shoot it with a cheap enamel paint. NO CLEARCOAT

wow no clear coat. :sigh: I guess i'll just get the front bumper painted and have my scratches fixed at a reputable private shop and use a PC to get all the swirl marks off and return her to like new condition.

do what I'm doing and prime/prep the car yourself and find a well-known private paintshop. I'm getting mine sprayed for $1,000 and that's a hell of a deal. They restored my grandfather's old chevy, and the paint is immaculate. No overspray, solid coats, and the coats are even and have no peeling or anything like that.

Most of the work in getting a paintjob right is all in the prepwork. If you can do that correctly and have a good reputable paint guy, it's not bad at all. Save your money and do the work you can do.
