88 GT locking seat back help needed
So we're doing some work on the interior, and I noticed on both of my seats the seat back itself doesn't lock into place as they as supposed to, where you should have to use the lever on the back on the seat to let it fold forward. I didn't really think of it as a big deal to get working on fixing at first, until I stopped a second and realized if I were to drive it like that and got rear ended with the seat back not locked in place I'd be going head first into the steering wheel :-\ That being said, anyone happen to know how to fix that lever so the seat will lock? I have a Chilton manual but didn't see anything about it in there. Any help would be appreciated
I believe (hope not wrong) they lock under inertia (jam on the brakes and they lock). This is done so you don't have to fumble for the lock to get in and out of the back seat. Try to move the seat back under moderate braking. If not get it fixed because if you have somebody in the back seat in a head on, your head will go through the windshield.
