Default How to remove window tint?

Just got my second window tint ticket tonight. So I think its time to remove the driver and passenger door window tint. What is the easiest and less messiest way of removing it?

Take it to a tinter...

Most will charge you $20-30 to pull it off and TRUST me...it is well worth it. The stuff does not just come off.

Here in IL, we are not allowed any side tint. I am running 30 back and min windows and 45 on the sides...looks factory and provides exactly what I wanted. Have never been stopped and my Stang in not shy in color either...

Considering its the side windows, I'd say get some water, a damp cloth, a couple of razor blades and get to work. That's how I got mine off. Try to peel the tint off slowly and carefully. Scrape off the left over residue with the blade while using the damp cloth to remove the lose residue and keeping the glue wet for easier removal...

Or you could just go with what illin said.

Either way, here's a link that should help you out regardless of what you decide to to: http://www.tintdude.com/remove.html

Good luck

I tried the above...as I do all my own wrenching...but after addign a $20 in the curse jar...I went out back and let it go!

Then drove 2 miles to a tint shop and was out the door in 30 mins!

use goog one or go to auto zone and purchase some tint remover spray. it kinda melts the glue and it can be wipe/scraped off faster....

im afraid if i take my tint off the rear window i will pull them off with it.....

it just takes like 20 minutes per window. spay some water or soap and water. let sit for 2 minutes and just use the razor and thats it. you may spray a little here and there just to lube it up. did this last night and got new window tint last night hah

and the back window i recommend a pro or you can use a steamer and go slow. it will remove the glue and tint at the same time and leaver your defrosters

i wish i saw this sooner. i found by accident that if you wait for extremely cold weather, it will come off easy without any ammonia, etc. for those in living in the northeast i guess that would be one( and the only) advantage we have over those in the sunbelt.

I tried taking mine off in the cold weather and it didnt make a damn difference. Jus buy a heat gun and it will come off like it went on. A blade is the last thing you'd want to do.
