Don't use any sort of dressing on the black if you are worried about dirt sticking under your hood. Just degrease and wash. It'll look great. Use a dressing on it only before a show or when ever you are going to show it off. That's my opinion.

The stuff I use is not greasy at all, and dirt just flies right off it it. You should give it a shot!

I actually use these wipres from Autozone called OrangeScrub, it comes in a container with wipes presoaked in the chemicals and it makes my enigine look awesome!! They are about 10 dollars for the container but it last about 3 times or so. I can post pictures this weekend as Im going for a cruise and I need to make it look nice before i go!

I suppose it won't hurt.

First, get some wipes. You can use Meguiars Interior Wipes, Leather wipes, etc. It all depends on how much shine you want. I personally use the Leather wipes. Now, what you need is a small amount of quick detail spray. It does not matter which one you use, I personally use Meguiars Ultimate Detailing Supply. Spray a little bit(1-2 squirts) in the container, and gently mix around.

Afterward, the wipes are set. Try not to keep the wipes in a cold area, or they will freeze and lose potency.

If you use the leather wipes, keep in mind, if you do not use the wipes properly, they will leave streaks. If you leave a streak, just keep using a used wipe, and it will get rid of the streak.

The wipes hold a lot of dirt, and do not leave a greasy residue on any of the plastic/vinyl, or rubber or metal in your engine bay.

Good luck everyone! If you have any questions, let me know.

PS- It is better to use these wipes in a warmer climate for better bonding. Otherwise, you will have a lot of streaks, and the effects of the wipes will wear off within a week.

If done properly, the shine and the finish will stay in your engine bay for weeks to come.
